Message from 2017 Peewee OBA Head Coach, Daryl Haycock
Message from Listowel Peewee OBA Head Coach, Daryl Haycock:

For those of you that have not met me yet, my name is Daryl Haycock and I have been volunteering as a coach in Listowel for 6yrs now. With the help of Alexa Hinsperger, we have scheduled a couple dates for some indoor evaluation. These will be held at the Wallace Arena in Kurtzville on April 21st from 6:30-8:30 PM and again on April 23rd from 4:30-6:30 PM.

We will be running some stations that will allow us coaches to see how kids are with the fundamentals of baseball and from this we will evaluate and determine who we see as potential players for the OBA team.
Please keep in mind that playing on the OBA team involves additional costs for the season, not covered by your initial registration fee. I would like to think we will be participating in a minimum of 3 tournaments in addition to the provincial championships, and there are 12 extra games over and above the WOBA schedule. Most tournaments are out of town and require accommodation costs and travel costs also.

The cost for the indoor practices is not determined yet as this will be based on the number of players participating, but this will need to be covered by those attending the sessions and will likely be no more than $10. I encourage everyone to come out, but also would like to suggest that if you have NO intention of having your child play on the OBA team that you forego this event. It makes our jobs a little easier for narrowing down who is interested and who isn’t.

For those that are interested in trying out for the OBA team but cannot attend these indoor evaluation sessions, please let me or Alexa Hinsperger know as soon as possible. There will be at least 1 outdoor practice towards the end of April, which I expect will serve as our final evaluation.

Coaches and teams for WOBA should be determined in the coming weeks and you will hear directly from your child’s coach regarding practices and games for that team.

Thank you for your patience and lets hope for warm weather so we can get playing some ball!!!
