FINALLY! Our First Game in Two Years
U12 girls started the game with smiles and a lot of nerves and came off the field just with smiles not even knowing whether they won or lost. This game just felt good all around to be together with friends and family, playing a sport with lots of cheers and laughs!
Some of the girls had lots of nerves heading up to the plate and out to field but they played well as a team! We're very proud of them all! We saw some great plays and nice hits and we saw some room for a lot more learning too!
As coaches, parents & players we have to remember that just like some players have never played before, some umps have never umped before (or like everyone it's been two years since we last really played)... and not only do we teach our children, we need to help teach the game to umps as well with patience! This is a fun house league. Yes sometimes its Frustrating (very frustrating) to see bad calls but in the end of the day we are giving all of us the gift of sport, companionship, team building, watching kids develop as players and umps, physical activity and togetherness... so a bad call, an error on defense or offence OR even an error (or two) made by the coach - it's all part of the fun and the way we grow together!
Can't wait for the next game! Way to play girls!
