U17 Legends Defeat Londesborough
Last Night our U17 girls travelled to Londesborough to face off on the diamond. With a strong opening inning, and great defence throughout, Listowel took the victory 12-8.
Cami and Momoko started things off with a keen eye getting themselves to base, and stole into scoring position with Addison up to bat. Addison hit a hard single sending both girls home right off the top of our order! But it didn't stop there - Becca, Camryn and Alyssa all loaded the bases and Anna came in with a strong double hitting all three girls in! Triple RBI! Neve also followed suit connecting a valuable single and bringing Anna in! That completed our full lineup and brought the Max 7 runs in! An exciting start and how all games should take off! Bottom of the 1st, Anna started pitching for us, allowing for only 2 runs and succeeding 2 strikeouts! Top of 2, our bats fired up again as Cami secured a double, Momoko walked to first and Addison smoked a double bringing both girls home! Lauryn followed suit with a clean single and Carleigh and Becca moved her around and home quickly, now bringing another 4 runs in. Bottom of the second, with a few players walked, Londesborough began to bring runs in again, quickly scoring 5 this inning before Listowel was able to get out of it.
Top of the 3rd, the game sure tightened up, Londesborough switched pitchers and with Anna securing herself to first with a single, she managed to get around home for one more run. Into the bottom of the inning with ONLY 6 pitches, Listowel shut them down rapidly - 3 up, 3 down! Lauryn playing on First never cautioned or slowed her attempt to catch a foul ball over the fence and put out the first batter! Then took the second out herself too and Anna quickly scooped up the third batter's hit to toss to first! WOW - would love to see more of those short lived innings!!
In the 4th inning, Londesborough held a tight defense not allowing Listowel to score any, but Anna came out in the fourth meaning business and managed to strike 3 out holding two on base. In the 5th there was no wiggle room with both teams shutting each other down quickly with no runs. Same in the 6th, defense was on point although Londesborough did get a hold of a ball and send it sailing for a triple, therefore scoring one more run for their team, but still not enough. Anna pitched a full dynamic game for Listowel! Final Score, Listowel 12 - Londesborough 8.
This exciting, full of laughter, extremely fun group of ladies travel to Innerkip on June 7th, to hopefully do it all again!
