SQUIRT GIRLS - KEEPING UP THEIR SKILLS
Submitted By Julie Donaldson on Thursday, July 29, 2010
This week has shown that the girls are continuing to learn and use the skills they've been taught this year.  Tuesday the girls played Sebringville as they just lost by one run, 10-9.  On Wednesday, the squirts pushed on and defeated Seaforth 12-7.

On Tuesday night against Sebringville, Briana Donaldson pitched well as she shut down 2 innings quickly with no runs, however in the 3rd, she struggled as she walked the first 3 batters, and as Sebringville began to hit off her, our team struggled to get the 3rd out.  Sebringville matched our innings as the first 2 innings remained scoreless, the 3rd ended with 5 apiece.  Onto the forth inning as we managed to get 4 more runs!  Carly Gerber pitched the forth, however just couldn't catch a break... The game ended 10-9.

On the bat, Kaitlin Sippel finally got swinging and hit the ball, although only a single- she made it to 3rd with that hit and had a double RBI!  Briana also hit well as she brought in 4 RBI's.  Those to cross the plate and score for their team were Jessica Bannerman(2), Jenn MacDonald(2), Briana(2), Mallory Kuepfer, Kaitlin(2).

Our "Game Ball" tonight for standing out, went to Kaitlin Sippel for finding that connection at bat with the ball!  Keep up that great swinging girl!

On Wednesday Night, we played Seaforth.  This time Carly started pitching in the 1st, and did well striking two out right away.  After 4 runs walked in Carly shut the inning down with another strike out!  Briana began to pitch in the 2nd, and she too struggled at first as she walked 3 runs in, but then finally found her groove and struck 3 out.  Briana finished the next two innings allowing no runs in, and her 4th inning was another quick 3 up, 3 down!  Keep up the good work girls!

On bats, Ashley Bannerman did well all 3 times at bat and hit a double with 2 RBI's and Briana hit all 3 times at bat, hitting a double with 3 RBI's, and a single with 2 RBI's.  Kaitlin continued to connect with the ball this game and had an RBI, and Carly also hit a double with an RBI!  That's what we like to see girls, keep pouring on the fire!  Scorers for the game were, Ashley(3), Kaitlin(3), Carly(2), Briana, Heather, Reghanne, and Jessica(2)!

Our "Game Ball" tonight for standing out, went to 2 players again.  To Ashley Bannerman, for her great success at the bat, for calling out plays to her team and for always staying focused on the game!  Also to Briana Donaldson, for her strong bats, as well for her perfect 3 up, 3 down pitched inning.  Keep up the great work!

We said thank you and goodbye, to teammate Chelsea Smith.  Chelsea was with us for 3 weeks this summer, as she visited her family.  We asked her to also sign our game ball for her dedication, and great sportsmanship during her stay!  Thanks again Chelsea, we are so glad you joined us this summer!
