The Clinton Mustangs #1 capped an outstanding weekend of baseball by claiming the WOBA South Championship, combining offensive firepower with clutch performances in high-pressure moments.
The Mustangs opened their tournament Friday night with a commanding 12–3 win over the Goderich Seahawks – Green. On Saturday, they delivered one of the weekend’s most thrilling games — a 9–8 walk-off victory over the Listowel Legionnaires #3 — before closing out round-robin play with a decisive 16–3 win over the Howick Hawks – Gold.
Sunday’s semifinals saw Clinton take control early against the Exeter Express – Blue, cruising to a 7–2 win and earning their spot in the championship game. The finals set up a battle of the undefeated as the Mustangs faced the Mitchell Astros – Black. In a tense, hard-fought contest, Clinton held their composure and edged out a 4–3 victory to secure the WOBA South title.
With a perfect 5–0 record and a mix of dominant wins and clutch finishes, the Clinton Mustangs #1 proved themselves the class of the division — and worthy champions.
