U9T1's outlast Royals 9-3 in tightly contestested defensive gem
The Legionnaires welcomed the Brockton Royals to town on Monday night for a tune up for both teams before heading to their respective OBA Championships. As expected, great defense was the story of this one the teams took turns making play after play making it extremely difficult to get any offense going.
The Royals would put up a run in the first but the home team would respond to tie it up. The next couple of innings would see the teams scratch for runs, the score 4-2 Listowel after 5 innings. Brockton would add one in the 6th before the Listowel bats would explode for 5 in the bottom half stretching the lead to 9-3. The defense would hold in the 7th in a 3 up 3 down inning on route to a solid outing for the boys in yellow on route to Kingsville for the OBA Championship.
Special shout out to Fin Long who took a rocket of a ground ball that took a bad hop off the nose. He would leave the field bloody and bruised but stayed with his teammates on the bench and managed to get some ice cream after! Sounds like he's good to go this weekend which is great news for everyone!
Game 1 of the OBA Tournament sees the Legionnaires play Lakeshore at 8pm Friday night.
