Rookie Tier 1, 2016 (Listowel Minor Baseball)

     From Under Dogs to Tops Dogs this weekend. Rookie Rep climbed from near the bottom of the pack to take the championship in 6 hard played games, without winning a single coin toss.    

      A great success today at LMBA Day! Tier 1 Rookie faced St. Mary's Grey Team at 1:30pm this afternoon. With some terrific defence, Listowel held St. Mary's to 2 runs after 4 innings of play. With the Listowel offence heating up as well over the last 2 games, they were able to drive in 28 runs over 4 innings, leaving the final score 28-2.            The game was followed but a BBQ lunch for both teams, raffle prices, 50/50 draw, and some skills events. Tier 1 Rookie also ran successful fundraiser to help out the team with an upcoming Tournament in Dorchester.  

     Tier 1 Rookie team pulled off a huge win tonight against Goderich. Listowel brought their big bats out to the game tonight. With a total of 44 hits including 2 home runs, 2 triples, and 6 doubles, Listowel beat Goderich 33-15.       Not only were the bats swinging, but Listowel also managed to pull together their best defensive game yet this season. With some amazing catches and some rockets to first base, they put together a solid defence. Way to go!    

     Little League turned Big League when 101.7 The One attended the Tier 1 Rookie game Thursday night against St. Mary's.      101.7 announced all the players for both teams before the game, entertained the players and fans throughout the game with excellent music and then provided all the players and siblings with treats after the game. Although St. Mary's took the game, beating Listowel 23-7, a great time was had by all.      Thank you 101.7 The One!      

   A disappointing lose for the Tier 1 Rookie team after a long travel to Thorndale on Tuesday night. Both teams played exceptionally both offensively and defensively with the lead bouncing back and forth for the first 3 innings.        Thorndale came into the 4th bound and determined to take the lead with a 6 run inning and another 4 run inning in the top of the 5th. Although Listowel managed to get an additional run in the top of the 6th it wasn't quite enough. Listowel managed to shut Thorndale down in the 6th with a quick 1-2-3 inning to minimize damage.
