Peewee’s Pilot Project earn a couple Wins

LMBA, for many reasons, has decided to enhance the Peewee playing experience by entering them into both the ICBA & the WOBA. This will greatly increase the number of games (to 36) while giving them a much better opportunity to hone their skills.

The Peewee season got under way in Guelph with 9-4 loss. The game featured solid pitching by Parker Yungblut & Ben Bowman, but the bats were quiet for most of the game. With only 2 practices under their belt it took awhile for the batters to look comfortable at the plate, however as the game progressed they looked better & better.

Game 2 saw a different group take the field as they visited the Panthers of Kitchener. In the 1st inning the team batted around their order on route to 11 runs. This would be more than enough run support as Will Calder got the start on the mound for the Legionaries and looked sharp through his 3 innings of work. Brett McLeod came in & pounded the strike zone over his 2 innings. However this game was never in doubt as the local lads cruised to a 27-6 victory. Yungblut led the way with 5 hits one being a triple, while Jeff Mock picked up 4 hits.

Game 3 versus Woodstock would be the Peewee’s home opener, on a cool overcast night. Derek Fischer took the mound and looked dominate as he pitched 4 innings allowing only 1 hit and 1 run. On the offensive side the team scoredWoodstock game rev.jpg 11 times while scattering 6 hits of their own. Reid Gooding would be the RBI machine with 2 hits one which was a bases clearing double. Others picking up hits on the night were Lucas Jamieson, Chris Enders, Cole McKee & Austin McGrath. Jamieson would only need 5 pitches in the 5th inning to secure the 11-1 victory.  (on the right Will Calder applies the tag to a Woodstock base runner)
