The weekend maybe never held the outcome we had hoped for... however,  it began with just our second game of the season, so we still had lots to celebrate.

Friday Night ended up being a very late game vs Camlachie.   Anna started fierce on the mound with 3 strike outs in the top 5 batters, and no runs against.  Our bats opened up well as Cami started the game with a double with solid singles following suit by Anna, Lauryn, Becca, Linnea, and Neve, bringing in 4 runs in the first!  Camlachie answered back with two singles and a double, bringing in two runs of their own but our defense didn't let off.  Heading into the bottom of the second, Camlachie shut us down quick, with 3up, 3down.  Top of the third, Camlachie slammed a couple more doubles and filled the bases with some walks, now tying the game to 4-4.  Lauryn and Becca answered back with a double and a single to bring in one more run, in the bottom of the Third. Cami took the mound top of the 4th and things began to unravel... with a couple more doubles and players on base, they took a liking to Cami's pitch, so Linnea went in to try and help, but it was too late as 7 runs came in.  We had a chance now to win by one IF we brought in the 7 max runs available! The girls definitely tried... Camryn, Carleigh, Marissa, Momoko & Addison managed to bring in 4 more runs, but that left us a couple short and we fell defeated to Camlachie, 11-9.

Saturday morning our pregame warm up began at 8:45am as we prepared to face Londesborough.  They won the toss so we began at bat and Cami once again started strong with a single and stole her way around home very quickly.  With Addison on base, Lauryn and Becca both secured singles, bringing in 3 runs total to start things off.  Linnea took the mound as our starting pitcher.  In both the first and second innings with some great pitching and tight defense, our Legends closed both innings down with 4 batters up and no runs.  Heading into the top of the 3rd, Momoko started a rally and with Addison & Anna on base, Lauryn slammed a triple securing 3 more runs for Listowel! Londesborough fought back with a couple solid hits - they too secured 3 runs, closing the gap now to 6-3. Top of the 4th, Linnea and Neve started out on base with a good eye, and Carleigh, Marissa & Alyssa managed to bring the girls home! Now heading into the bottom of the 4th, Linnea still strong on the mound, Londesborough secured just one more Run.  Top of the 5th, Momoko started us off on base and Becca hit her home.  Londesborough returned the same number of runs in the 5th which just wasn't enough to catch up.
Final Score; 9-5 for Listowel! Special mention to Lauryn who went 3 for 3 at the plate with two singles and a triple.

Game 3 began at 2pm vs PDP Lightning (best of the best from Princeton, Drumbo & Platsville).  This team reminded our entire team they still can sharpen their play book.  Although our girls did play a very good game, PDP over powered us and in the bottom of the 4th inning, the strike zone diminished next to nothing and Linnea struggled to win a call. All pitchers faced the team, and even though PDP only struck two of our players out in the course of the 5 inning game, we just couldn't bring in enough runs. PDP won 13-4.

Game 4, and our last game of the tournament, was at 5pm vs Wilmot.  Our bats were strong throughout the game.  Cami dominated the mound too for the full game with her team defensively behind her.  Wilmot only managed to secure 3 runs.  Most of our bench managed a single hit or helped move players around, but three special mentions, all going 3 for 3 at the plate belong to; Carleigh with two Singles and a Triple, Lauryn with 3 Singles and Cami with a Single, Double and Triple!  Listowel took the victory 13-3.

With 2 wins and 2 loses, we managed to secure third place, just not quite enough to take us to the Championship Game on Sunday.  Overall this was a fun weekend of ball to really kick off our season filled with great team togetherness, many laughs, fun in the sun and makes us look even more forward to our upcoming games!
